Ooooorr......It was taken on July 29th at 12:31 pm and 50 seconds in 2004... which would make more sense because it would be one day before con start...thus cancelling the con before it happened...
and it should be according.

And I think I can tell from the brightness of the paper it was from Kinkos and from the thickness of the text it was written with a retractable sharpie. Amazing whats in EXIF data nowadays....

According to the Alexis Park they are already taking Defcon 13 registration and I got a Crown Suite. Afterall the "Save the Whales for Dinner!" party is going to be in my room. Dont ask, just show up and donation above 70 proof are much appreciated Oh and if anyone so much as mentions pool2girl around my party I will vomit and then i will introduce you to Iggy and you will not have a nice day. Thankyou and i hope to see a lot of you at defcon 13. And remember. Not amount of alcohol of can make pool2girl look good. That requires LSD. :)

After starting as a teenager and hacking different systems for over three decades, I have found to in my shock and horror that I'm in my 40's. Go figure. I suspect that it may sooner or later happen to most people.

Also, I can finally afford an SUV. It's a lot better ride than the POS I used to drive as a teen.

I agree, it has become a more of a conference and less of a place to hang out with like minded individuals. I miss the intimacy of sorts that we had in the first few cons but am happy to be still making memories that I will one day look back on and say that I miss those days.

I wonder how much of DEFCON's character is determined by its venue?

While AP was great for DEFCON I think that the con started take on the character of Alexis Park. Look at DEFCON's demographic, look at the growing numbers luxury cars and SUVs in the AP parking lot during the con and look at the growing number ot 40-somethings drinking beer around the pools.

DEFCON has become a different "scene" than it was years ago. I for one, now use DEFCON to see clients and go to very few talks. In the past--when we all huddled in a large room and learned technical stuff--we became a community. I guess we're a different community now.

Part of this may be due to AP's park-like setting. Maybe something less resort-like would change the vibe? I'm all for shaking things up a bit. A new venue could do that.

OTOH, I hope that DEFCON is not left without a home. There cannot be that many places that could take a con the size of DEFCON, especially if plans need to change on short notice.
