1) I've been to a few Defcons so far: 13, 14, 16

2) This year, I expect, plan, hope to:
* Hang out with some good friends coming down with me
* Not be so antisocial and make some new friends
* Try to get to the talks I want to see early
* Drink myself stupid
* Try and enjoy the pool before it closes
* Have a great time, as always

1. 16 was my first. She was very gentle. I also went to Defcon 16 as my first conference.

2. I don't plan on attending many talks. Instead I think I'm going to spend the majority of my time in the HHV (with a soldering iron I currently don't own, but will), the lockpicking village (only place I spent any time last year), and staring at the ceiling wishing it would stop spinning. Oh, and watching my computer get hacked. That should be good times.

I expect to hit a wall sometime on Saturday where I fall gasping to the ground, begging the information to stop, my brains full.

I don't expect anyone to recognize me. In fact, since none of my friends are the least bit interested in computers, it would come as a big fucking shock if someone did. THAT would be weird. "Aren't you Melesse?" "Yes I ...wait a minute..."

You know those guys who go 50mph on 10-speeds while wearing spandex? That's like Defcon. We will all be at that speed one day with practice. But until them be happy with something more your speed.

I agree, when I went to DC8 it was busy but not nuts. It's a lot to swallow at once. Check with your local FBI office for hacker events in your area.

1. I was at 10(never come to a con when your 14 with your dad. It sucks),12,13,14...and now I can come back.

2.
1.) Attend the TBBQ and have some crazy meat in my mouth. Preferably Elk, not Highwiz.
2.) Help make Defcon 101 awesome for everyone involved.
3.) Learn how to not suck at lockpicking in the LP Village.
4.) Bring some UbunShine, the open source liquor to share.
5.) Buy beer for all the people that are rightfully owed, but Wild Turkey for lil_freak.
6.) Steal beer from the keg on Salem's back.
7.) Eat at the Peppermill early in the morning pre-con.
8.) Locate and consume a Warp Core Breach with friends.
9.) Learn something cool involving RFID from the talks.
10.) Have a good time with solid folks that I only get to see a few times a year.

1) Only Defcon 16
2) Compete in oCTF and outright miss 70% of talks I want to see, again
- Wander the strip with strippers and Australians plastered out of my mind, again
- I don't expect to be recognized, but expect a great time and to make new friends
- Looking to catch the CA folks with more home brewed cider...
- Hoping to meet some folks who'll blow my mind... and maybe share a beer or two
- Maybe volunteer with something - to get involved

I have a list that just grows yearly..
I can expect that same as usual, I will not have enough time
to participate and do everything I want over the course of the con.

1) Went to Defcon 16, already have my room booked for 17

2) I expect to have at least one friend speaking this year, possibly two. I'll be in the front row.

I expect to meet up with people I've been talking with online, which should be fun and alcohol filled.

I hope to spend more time in the hardware hacking village, last year I spent most of my time in the lock picking village.

I expect to go to the toxic bbq, I couldn't get a ride last year.

I expect to be disappointed that I can't go to Quarks bar after closing ceremonies.

I expect to be called a scenewhore at least once by some asshole, just like every con I go to.

I expect my boss to go over the security training and privacy policies at work after he finds out a) what defcon is and b) that I went.

My angle on the situation is a little different, what the hell you might appreciate it.

1. Sadly I have yet to go to a Defcon

2. Also ,sadly, due to finance and the Atlantic ocean I won't be able to go this year too. I am hoping to go next year though.

Expectation wise what can I say? As I was getting into computers and, specifically, tinkering with security it would have been hard to not hear bout Defcon. Though (unlike when I was in school) Defcon is no longer that mysterious "hacker thing" in Las Vegas but a collection of people interested in tinkering and drinking.

I guess you could say I don't know what to expect. I know it's the largest collection of people who wear shorts round the household regardless of the weather. From there I know I'll just have to find out for myself. Oh well, hopefully next year.
