Another maintenance window is planned for 5:00pm Pacific Time on Sunday, January 21, 2024.
This maintenance should be very short, assuming it works out as planned, with less than 6 cases where there are a few seconds of service interruption with each interruption.
The maintenance window should last 1 hour or less.

This maintenance is complete. Down-time was about 2 or 3 seconds. I do not yet have any other plans for service interruption. Problem I found since the major upgrades have been resolved.

Maintenance on forums should be complete. Basic tests show stuff is working after upgrade to software used to support the forums.

Forum maintenance planned on the DEF CON forum at around noon, Saturday, lasting 1-4 hours depending on problems encountered.

It looks like the forum maintenance is complete. I am still conducting checks. If you notice any new problems, please let us know.

This was just a change to the OS/kernel/libraries, not the forum software.

Filesystem issues caused forums to stop working early this morning just after I went top sleep. Problems found, filesystem issues resolved, forum server rebooted and back in service.

Hello everyone,

We again have plans for maintenance to the DEF CON forums. Service interruption may last 6 hours depending on how well things work out.
Maintenance expected to start: Saturday, May 18, 2024 at around 1:00pm PDT lasting until up to 7:00pm PDT if all goes well.
We'll have more details on any changes after the maintenance window.

Expect a few interruptions over the next 6 hours. The forums will be up most of the time over the next 6 hours.

During the window of maintenance on the forums , access to the forums remained up and available.
It was only from 1:00pm PDT to around 1:05pm PDT, and around 5:30pm PDT to until around 6:05pm PDTand then from 6:21pm PDT until 6:24pm PDT that we had to interrupt service.
We upgraded the OS, the kernel, ssl libs, and PHP.

So far, no problems have been found.
