Most badges have github for them or some other link to the code or gerber files, seems like an archive or collection of those would be a good jumping off point for anything archive related.

Yes please! I also want to volunteer to coordinate some sort of virtual meet-up/happy hour where everybody can show off their badges and talk about #BadgeLife.

If you're looking for something to display SAOs at your house, you can grab the file for this 3D printed Defcon-themed holder for free over on thingiverse: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:3981466

I'm a little late to the party, but I finally got my first ever SAO on Tindie!

So.. dedicated Badge Life section, what would you like to see sub-forums for?

The next Forums update will be more photo album friendly so I'm guessing a good collection of pictures, a buy / sell trade section and a HW Hackers / designers area?

We should have a sub-forum for badge makers to discuss things like the technical challenges of designing and building badges and SAOs and such.

Sounds good! “Badge Designers”? “Badge Creators”?

I spoke too soon, the sub-forum already exists for badge designers.

Logistically we are thinking through how to produce and ship them in time for people to have them by con.

We will be selling the Z80 Retro Badge at DEF CON this year. List price will be $130. We plan on selling them via Hacker Warehouse.
We are very excited to announce there will be a CTF associated with the badge. The winner will receive the cost of a badge ($130).

I know I've posted this in various places before.

This is the "Angry Cat" badge, and yes, it will run CP/M too.

                            And the obligatory starfield ...

Looks like I can't show that one, limit 3 images in the post.

This is just a fun project that a few of us have collaborated on. There are two working samples in the known universe, both of which will be at DC31.

There is a third in progress, but the guy doing that one has been trying to do a 3d print conductive trace PC board with only so-so luck.

Wow! That thing is awesome! Would love to get my hands on one if you ever make a batch of them for sale.

We briefly talked about making them and selling them, but decided this is a fun project only.

I will try to write up instructions for making them. I've already been asked about a bill of materials, but since this is a hacker type project, we just kinda used what we had, although the two working ones are almost identical. The main electronics all come from Adafruit and are commonly available. I'll probably write this up after DC31.

Now the software is another thing. It was written by three different people with three different coding styles and no formal methodology. As of now it has a simple basic menu, but the exiting of the functions is not consistent and no return to the menu has been implemented. For some of the things, like the video poker, the way to exit is to turn the thing off and reboot.

LOL, the start-up sequence has some test screens and such and we'll probably leave it that way. They're kinda cute and show the progress as the thing starts up and boots into CP/M.

This is a "hacking" project, not a formal development thing.
