Welcome to the first book club vote! Woo! Let's see what people want to read and talk about.

    How this works:
    • Read this thread: https://forum.defcon.org/node/231168
    • Vote for as many books as you are interested in
    • The book with the most vote wins
    • If there is a tie then to save time having to vote a tie-breaker Nikita will pick from the pool of equal vote books.
Remember to give preference to stories, we don't want to book club a technical manual.

If you don't see a book listed that you suggested it could because you didn't follow the rules.

Speaking candidly, some of these suggestions we can find in the top ten in google results for hackers/hacking/cyber. Why not branch out and discover something new? I feel like we're subconsciously entered into an intellectual competition to pick THE categorically unarguable hacker book to start this club. That wasn't my intention. I feel like most have known about some of these suggestions for some time now, they're widely recommended books. If someone "new" were to ask us for "hacker book recommendations" they'd be the obvious answers. I was hoping for us to discover content that hasn't already had a spot light on it. Obviously the people will vote democratically and we'll decide fairly, but I wanted to get that out there in hopes it got you thinking about the perspective I had when creating this club. I mean no offense to anyone, and it's not that I disagree about a books' "worth", it's a bit deeper than that for me.

Okay, it looks like "Daemon - Daniel Suarez" is the winner.
Will be posting more about the book club process in a new thread in a few minutes. :-)
